Rev. Gladman Kapfumvuti , Pastor
MEET OUR PASTOR
Rev. Gladman Kapfumvuti was born in Zimbabwe, a former British colony of Rhodesia. The seed of faith in Christ was planted in his life at an early age by both his paternal and maternal grandfathers who were United Methodist preachers. Pastor Kapfumvuti has been in the ministry for thirty-four years (twenty-two years in Zimbabwe and twelve years in the United States).
Rev. Kapfumvuti did his early schooling in Mutare, a town in the eastern part of Zimbabwe’s capital city. He proceeded to do his advanced education with the University of London. In 1975, he responded to the call to ministry and went on to seminary training at the United Theological College from 1977-1980. Rev. Kapfumvuti continued his education with a Masters in Theology at the Wesley Theological College in Washington DC.
The Lord gave Rev. Kapfumvuti an opportunity to lead and provide pastoral ministry to twenty-five churches in Zimbabwe. Under the partnership between the Baltimore Washington and Zimbabwe Annual conferences, he pastored four churches in the United States. Rev. Kapfumvuti has also had the great honor of serving in the following positions:
District Superintendent (1989-1994)
Council on Ministries Director (1994-1999)
Administrative Assistant to the Bishop (2000-2003)
President of Bible Society of Zimbabwe (1994-2003)
Pastor Gladman Kapfumvuti is married to Monica Sarah Kapfumvuti and a proud father of four children (three boys and one girl). The Lord has also blessed him with three grandchildren. From 2013 to present day, Rev. Kapfumvuti has served as the pastor of Asbury/Zion Wesley Charge of the United Methodist Church in Brandywine and Waldorf, Maryland, respectively.
